Our mission is to help families experiencing homelessness achieve sustainable independence.
Family Promise of Wayne County is a local response to a national crisis. We are a
nondenominational, non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to helping children and their families who are at a time of temporary crisis, find permanent housing and achieve self-sustainability.

Through a network of volunteers, local churches, organizations and community resources, Family Promise of Wayne County provides temporary quarters, meals, and support to children in need and their families. Our professional staff coordinates with existing social service resources to expand opportunities available to our guest families. Family Promise of Wayne County is a coordinated local effort that is bringing community resources together to help families regain their housing, their independence, and their dignity.

Family Promise of Wayne County has been in operation since October of 2018. As a local Affiliate of the national Family Promise with over 200 Affiliates in 42 states, 29 families and 65 children have transitioned through our program as of June 2021.
In the United States, one child out of five lives in poverty. Families with children make up 35% of the people in this country who experience homelessness.
Poverty in Wayne County is a persistent and continuing foundation of homelessness. From data provided by school districts in Wayne County, there has been a consistent number of over 600 homeless children, both pre-school and school-age each year since the 2014-2015 school year.
